Salute to Our Veterans
July 16, 2011

Sponsored by Coulterville VFW Post 9454 and John Muir Festival.

9:00am Raise and Salute the American Flag.

Pledge of Allegiance - Mariposa Post - VFW Honor Guard.

VFW Post 9454 Blessing - Jeannie Nebel - Chaplain.

American Indian Veterans Blessing - Alberto Forgoso Lakota Sundancer - Iraq Veteran.

From ALL Wars and Conflicts - Jerry Progner - Commander Post 9454 Coulterville

Veteran's Benefits and Claims Officer will be on hand for VA Compensation for Disabilities, and VA Health Care Enrollment.

Louis Bickford, State of California Veterans of Foreign Wars Field Service Officer at Large for American Indian Veteran's Outreach. First Nations Veteran's Service Organization National Director and Service Officer will be available throughout the day.

The Women's VFW Auxiliary will have a booth of homemade items for sale to raise money to help veterans.

The Master Gardeners and Coulterville Brigade and Firefighters are presenting the Demonstration Garden at the Coulterville Firehouse. There will be seed planting and a scavenger hunt for children, plant identification activities, free popcorn, and a variety of gardening literature, some free and some at a minimal price. We will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Register for you free VIP Pass and receive your unique V/I/P/ number for the drawing for door prizes. Visit the Vendors all are located in the Coulterville Park.

Chef Pete Moon will prepare a Delicious Tri-Tip on French Roll with all the trimmings including chips, Lemon Aide or Ice Tea, and two of Grandma’s Cookies. VETS EAT FREE! All others will be charged $7.50.

Mariposa Chamber of Commerce – Booth for Soft Drinks and water.

Doug Cromell – Mac Doogles Old Time Kettlekorn Booth.

There will be many other booths, educational, demonstrations, art, photography and Reps. from the National Historic Site of John Muir’s Home (now a National Park).

There will be a petting zoo, and pony rides.

At the Fire House and the Master Garden Area, there will be games for kids, and other fun things to do and learn.

This is a family friendly event, please come.

“The Wild Adventures of John Muir” play
Saturday, July 16, 2011
The play is from 6- 7:30 pm

Yosemite Playhouse players once again perform an historical rendition of John Muir’s exciting Yosemite adventures.

Picnic grounds open by 5pm or buy a tri-tip dinner.

Advance tickets for the play are $12 adults, $3 children under 12. All tickets are $15 at the door.

Advance reservations for Tri-tip dinner are $15, $18 at the door; kids can have a free meal when attending with an adult. Beverages will be available for purchase.

Picnic and play will take place outdoors. Bring a lawn chair.
